MUSIC
Over the years the Césame team has always been involved in the Uccle european school, helping pupils to develop and discover themselves and to transcend linguistic barriers thanks to music. Individual music lessons, theory/musicianship lessons, group flute or piano lessons, choir, music appreciation workshops, symphony orchestra, big band are all activities which open children up to the world of music, familiarizing them with different instruments and types of music and giving young musicians the chance to develop their musical skills, whatever their levels and tastes may be.
INDIVIDUAL MUSIC LESSONS
A team of 22 highly qualified teachers give individual instrumental lessons at the school itself (or sometimes at pupils' homes) during the midday lunch break, study periods, on Wednesdays and Fridays in the early afternoon and throughout the school week after 4 p.m. Individual lessons may be taken in the following instruments: piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, recorder, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drums, harp, guitar and singing.
MUSICAL TRAINING
The symphony orchestra groups approximately 50 children together from 5th class in primary to 7th year in secondary. Rehearsals take place on Fridays from 16:00 to 18:30. Pupils must pass an audition with the conductor Arman Simonian before joining the group.
The big band under the direction of Alain Cupper brings together around a dozen pupils who are more interested in jazz, rock and pop music. Rehearsals take place every Monday from 16:00 to 17:00.
MUSIC EXAMS
Pupils who are enrolled in individual music lessons have the possibility to apply for the theory and practical exams of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music which are organised each year at the school.
MUSIC EVENTS
In collaboration with the school music teachers, Césame organises each year a Christmas and Spring concert. These concerts give numerous pupils the opportunity to perform before an audience and to have the unique experience of performing on stage.
