WHO WE ARE
CREATION OF APEEE SERVICES
At the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year, two non-profit organisations (APEEE and APEEE SERVICES) replaced the four previous structures (APEEE, CESAME, CANTINE, TRANSPORT).
The APEEE and the APEEE Services are therefore two separate associations, totally independent of the school, and at the service of all parents whose children attend the European School Brussels 1.
The APEEE is the voice of the parents in the school's governance bodies by ensuring permanent liaison with parents through elected representatives at class and language section level. It works on issues related to pedagogy, school administration, the school community and the health, safety and welfare of the students.
The APEEE SERVICES is an organisation run by parent volunteers and oversees services of vital importance to the life of the students at the school, such as canteen services, transport, extra-curricular activities, friday afternoon childcare and lockers.
The APEEE Services manage the different services on the two sites of the EEBI, the Uccle site and the Berkendael site:
the canteen on the Uccle site
transport on the Uccle and Berkendael sites
extracurricular activities at the Uccle and Berkendael sites
lockers at the Uccle site
friday afternoon childcare at the Uccle and Berkendael sites
The various services represent an annual turnover of more than 6 million euros, more than twenty permanent employees, 3100 meals per day, more than 70 school buses supervised by adults, and some sixty activity leaders for the extracurricular activities.
Thanks to the dedication of a dozen or so parent volunteers, the professionalism and experience of its staff, and the management, which provides the link between parents and staff, the APEEE Services runs a small business whose smooth running and good financial management are essential for the children, their parents and the life of the school.
The management of such a company requires a great deal of rigour in terms of management, given the financial masses and the number of employees involved.
